My research centers around postcolonial African literature, with a particular focus on the intersection of exile, post-independence protest, and witnessing. I am looking at how writers navigate displacement—both physical and psychological—while responding to the disillusionments of independence and the persistence of political and social injustice.

My work engages a diverse range of authors, including Abdellatif Laabi, Kona Khasu, Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, Chris Abani, Ousmane Sembène, Cheikh Hamidou Kane, Dambudzo Marechera, Tayeb Salih, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, Frantz Fanon, Aimé Césaire, Pepetela, Dennis Brutus, Nawal El Saadawi, Naguib Mahfouz, Lenrie Peters, and Syl Cheney-Coker, among others.
